Shawn Elms
Field Medical Affairs
Shawn Elms is the Director of Field Medical Affairs, managing the medical science liaisons (MSLs) in the dissemination of science and medical information to health care providers. Shawn has over 15 years of experience in the industry and an additional 9 years of medical and scientific training in academia. He is a published researcher, former journal editor, medical school professor and of recent, a medical affairs executive.
Before joining Braeburn in 2022, Shawn was an executive MSL for Biogen and before that he spent 9 years at Teva in a similar role. He accumulated a suite of experience as both a field MSL and an internal expert in clinical trial design, HEOR, new data generation and external education. The entirety of Shawn’s pharmaceutical career has been spent in neurology, representing therapies for emergent schizophrenia and bipolar disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine, Alzheimer’s and now opioid use disorder.
Shawn graduated from Wofford College with an undergraduate in Biology, a PhD from the Medical College of Georgia and a post-doctoral fellowship from the Emory School of Medicine. He has been with his wife, Danielle since 2006 and they have a young son, John. They reside in Atlanta and enjoy travel and coaching sports.
