Lindsay was living under a viaduct in downtown Louisville when she was arrested and forced to confront her addiction.

Opioid use disorder (OUD) had estranged her from her daughter, family, and friends. She was homeless.

But sitting alone in jail, she promised herself that if she ever had another chance at recovery, she’d give it her all.

After being released, she made good on that promise.

It wasn’t her first attempt at recovery. Or her second. Or even her 30th. But she was more committed than ever.

And now, she’s committed to helping others like her as the Executive Director of Louisville Recovery Community Connection — which provides various services, resources, and meeting groups to people in recovery.

When she talks to those who struggle with OUD, many feel there’s no hope for their future.

Her advocacy provides encouragement.
