Honoring International Overdose Awareness Day

Today is designated as International Overdose Awareness Day to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of opioid and other drug-related death.  It is also an opportunity for family and friends to remember those who have died from drug overdose.

We know that death from overdose is preventable, but it will take improving access to evidence-based treatment and reducing stigma to decrease the number of deaths.  Treatment must be available when patients are ready.  If we cannot save the lives of those who overdose, we cannot encourage patients to begin their recovery journey.  At Braeburn we are grateful to be able to work towards bringing possible treatment options for patients.

On International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the lives that have been lost to drug overdose and affirm our commitment to patients with opioid use disorder and their caregivers.
